A trio of Michael Jordan jerseys are amongst the leading lots in Goldin Auctions’ current online winter sale of sports and historic memorabilia.
Leading the pack is a Chicago Bulls home jersey worn on the historic evening of April 3, 1998, during “the game in which Michael Jordan became legend”.
Jordan scored a total of 41 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves that night, including the 29,000th point of his career – placing him alongside fellow legends Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as just the third player in NBA history to reach the tally.
That same season Jordan would also lead the Bulls to their 6th Championship, winning his fifth NBA MVP Award and 10th scoring title along the way.
Also from the 97-98 season comes Jordan’s game-worn Chicago Bulls road uniform worn in Paris during The McDonald’s Championship – the precursor to the FIBA International Cup, which featured the reigning champions from the USA, Europe, South America and Australia.
Jordan wore the uniform whilst scoring 28 points against French team PSG Racing, as the Bulls claimed a semi-final victory on their way to winning the tournament.
The third jersey of the trio is a black Chicago Bulls road jersey, worn by Jordan in the 1996-97 season. His Airness averaged 29.6 points per game that year, winning the title with the Bulls and being crowned NBA Scoring Champion, and the jersey is expected to fetch upwards of $15,000.
Elsewhere, basketball fans will also have the chance to bid on a LeBron James game-used Cleveland Cavaliers jersey, worn after his return to Cleveland in November 2014 in a win against the Denver Nuggets, estimated at $6,000+.
