The historic football memorabilia collection of Green Bay Packers star Jerry Kramer has sold at Heritage Auctions in New York.
The hard-hitting offensive linesman was part of Vince Lombardi’s legendary team which swept all others aside throughout the 1960s.
Kramer spent his whole11-year professional career with the Packers, winning five NFL Championships and two Super Bowls, as well as being voted a five-time All-Pro and named as a member of the NFL’s 50th anniversary team.
Kramer addressed the packed auction room in New York to a standing ovation before his collection crossed the block, and bidding quickly illustrated how highly he is regarded amongst fans.
The most valuable piece from Kramer’s collection was his 1967 Green Bay Packers Super Bowl I Championship Ring, described as “ he most significant NFL Championship ring ever offered at auction”, which sold for $125,475.
Further awards included his 1962 Green Bay Packers NFL Championship Wristwatch, which sold for $45,410, and his 1965 Green Bay Packers NFL Championship Ring, which realized $35,850.
The collection also included game-worn jerseys from Kramer’s career, including his 1967 Super Bowl I Game-Worn Green Bay Packers Jersey that sold for $45,410 and his mid-1960s Game Worn Green Bay Packers Jersey which sold for $13,145.
Together, the items from Kramer’s collection sold for more than $464,000.
"Jerry Kramer devoted his life to making the world a better place and I’m not surprised collectors did not hold back to own a piece of his personal and professional football legacy," said Chris Nerat, Sports Consignment Director at Heritage.
Further football highlights from the Heritage sale included the New York Jets Super Bowl III Championship Ring presented to Defensive End Verlon Biggs, which sold for $62,737 and a complete, PSA-graded run of 50 Super Bowl tickets which realized $54,970.
