JC Auctions stage their fourth sale this week promising a once-in-a-generation chance to acquire notable British stamp and postal history items at prices that won’t be seen again.
The new auction site’s first three sales – the Crown and Dragon series – focused on British and Chinese rarities. This sale is GB only.
Mike Hall of JC Auctions said: “Many of the 300-plus lots here haven’t been seen on the market for a generation and have opening bids just 5% to 10% of their last recorded sale price. We know dealers are looking at this sale as a major opportunity and encourage collectors to join them in finding exceptional quality and value.”
The lots are all formerly handled by Stanley Gibbons, guaranteering quality and authenticity.
The sale is well timed says Mr Hall, who believes the high profile sale of the legendary Buccleuch Block of 2d Blues in New York next week could be a major signal of health in the GB stamp market.
“This sale could be your last chance to see items like this at these prices,” he said.
Among the items for sale are die proofs, treasury essays, trials, Mulready letters, and some of the earliest cancellations in postal history.
The Crown sale is open for online bidding now with a live sale closing from 10am tomorrow, May 21.
